About the Group

A quiet practice, built on independence

Our Story

The group

Art Vestors Group was established to offer collectors something the market rarely provides: advice with nothing to sell. We are a private art advisory based in Charlotte, North Carolina, working with individuals, families and institutions across the Carolinas and, through enduring relationships, in cities well beyond.

We are deliberately small. A limited circle of clients means each collection receives genuine attention — from a single question about one work to the long stewardship of an entire estate. We do not trade in art, accept seller commissions or promote any gallery, auction house or artist. Our counsel belongs entirely to the collector.

Leadership

Kay O. Pressley, Principal

The practice is led by Kay O. Pressley, whose background spans collection research, institutional liaison and the quiet logistics of private ownership. Kay’s approach is unhurried and exacting: listen before advising, document before deciding and plan for the collection’s future while the present still allows time to do it well.

Under Kay’s direction, the group has guided new collectors making their first considered acquisitions, helped established families bring order and documentation to collections built over generations, and assisted institutions with independent research and transition planning.

Our Approach

How we practice

Three commitments shape every engagement. First, discretion: what we see and learn in a client’s home or storage remains there. Second, evidence: provenance, condition and history are examined before opinion is offered. Third, patience: collections mature over years, and good advice should be judged on that same horizon.

We believe a collection is more than the sum of its works. It is a record of taste, intention and care — and, handled well, a legacy. Our role is simply to help that record remain legible: buy well, document well, care well and plan ahead.

If this way of working sounds right for your collection, we would welcome the chance to talk.
